How is Kopi Luwak made?
These are made from cat faeces known as Civet/Luwak. Its excrement is called palm civet. Kopi Luwak producers let Luwak cats freely eat coffee berries. These cats do not eat all coffee beans. They have a habit of eating only the best quality of coffee fruits.
Cats that eat coffee beans excrete waste after digesting them. The waste contains only the nuts of the coffee fruits. Later, the excrement of the Luwak cats is collected and washed clean. Then, they break the coffee beans and remove the outer skin. Again washed thoroughly and dried. Then, they are roasted and ground into coffee powder.
